The Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy Trading Card No. 54 is a highly rare edition Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy card that is animated. There are now only 4 in existence.
It appeared in "The Card" when the cashier said there were only five of those cards in existence. Patrick bought a packet, and it had all five of them. Ironically, SpongeBob bought every pack in the store, except for that one. Patrick said that he would give it to SpongeBob, if he could use it for the rest of the day. Patrick used it for things such as: a key, grilling, and floss which freaked out SpongeBob as there were only five in existance. He also thought that if it broke, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy would never forgive him. When SpongeBob got it, it was all worn out and he started to cry. Patrick then gave SpongeBob the four other limited edition copies.

On the card, there is an animation of Mermaid Man saying "Mermaid Man says..." (a giant hand punches Barnacle Boy) "...Buy more cards!'

- When the cashier said there were only five in the world, its a parody of Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when Willie Wonka only put five golden tickets around the world.
- Apparently, Patrick owned the only cards left. There are five cards in each pack, and he got the pack full of them.
- There are now only four cards left in existence, all of which are owned by SpongeBob.
